First Impressions
This J1 was the next of my ebay SupFire trio to arrive at the house.
Slightly larger than the J6 and sporting a top switch and a rechargeable socket this torch looked promising.
The main body is a high grade aluminium with a semi- gloss anodised finish. Feeling substantial in the hand.
The power switch on this model is located on the top of the torch rather than a clicky button on the tail cap. It's made from rubber so should be waterproof.
The business end of the torch is two piece. The reflector/head and a WF-501B style drop in bulb module.
The bulb module houses the Cree XP-E chip. The quality isn't too bad.
Construction of the main body is a tough grade of aluminium. Thick set and well milled. The screw threads are top notch too.
The tail cap features a Copper or gold played contact spring. This seems sturdy enough and holds the battery in well.
Recharging is simple and convenient. Just plug a wall charger in and the torch does the rest. A handy feature if you don't like carting battery chargers around with you.
Overall another Impressive SupFire offering.

Nicely made head

Is this bulb module interchangeable?

SupFire J1 v Supfire J6
Although looking identical these two Torches are totally different beasts.
The J6 has a better reflector, better contacts and a sharper attack bezel whereas this J1 offers a side power button and the flexibility of charging without the charger. Both are very well made and have the same quality Cree diode. Deciding which torch is the best comes down to the individual and how they intend on using them. I like the charging option of the J1 .

Bigger than the J6.

Testing:
Much like the J6, the Cree XP-E diode in this torch is bright and powerful. The deep set reflector and fixed focus lens manage to throw a beam over a considerable distance. Well over 100ft.
This torch would be ideal for a variety of situations. The power on offer is would be plenty enough for a camping trip.
It's form factor is a good size for lugging about too.

Another fantastic SupFire offering. Superb quality at Costa coffee prices. I was so impressed with this model that I ordered a second one. Much better build than the Ultrafire's in my opinion. (and the Ultrafire torches are pretty good themselves)
These little things are hard to beat in terms of quality over cost.
